Agoutis form pairs and are diurnal and terrestrial.  They shelter in holes dug in the ground, also under fallen trees trunks or crevices between rocks or stones.  During periods when there is an abundance of seeds, the agouti burries some of them in the ground and unearths them when seeds are scarc and therefore they are a good dispereser of different species .  Eats fruits, seeds, flowers, leaves and insects.
