Migratory Status:  October to April

Size:  51 cm.

Weight:  350 grams.

Elevation:  up to 1,500 meters above sea level.

 

They are associated with cattle and feed on the insects that climb from the grass onto the animals.  They also eat lizards, frogs and small invertebrates.

They can be seen perched on top of cattle.  Some feed on the parasites such as ticks that affect cattle and they are often seen posing on the back of cows.

Their migration is related to the levels of water found in the habitat.

They travel in flocks and sleep together in the canopy of exposed trees.
